Costa Rica Fishing Tours
If you are interested in Costa Rica Fishing Tour, let me be your guide. I have lived in Costa Rica for the past 4 years and have experienced some "World Class Fishing." I can plan every detail for you from start to finish! This is a picture of the biggest rooster fish I have caught to date weighing in at 85lbs. We were fishing out of the Dreams Las Mareas Resort in Northwest Costa Rica in several of these pictures. Costa Rica doesn't have many marinas so the boats will pick you up right on the beach in front of your hotel. Here are some pictures of fishing in Costa Rica.
Roosterfish - If you are considering heading to the fishing capital of the world, a Costa Rica Fishing Tour for roosterfish is a must. The roosterfish patrols the Pacific waters from Baja, California down to Peru predominantly around rocky points, reefs and river mouths. They are considered an inshore species typically being caught between 20 and 150 feet of water. Their appearance is photo worthy with a fantastic fanned spine and black stripes along the sides. To put this picture into perspective, I'm the guy on the left and I am 6'2" and 255lbs and Captain Eduardo next to me is similar in size. This little guy was caught on a 24" trolled live ladyfish.
Grouper - Many species of Grouper can be caught on Costa Rica fishing tours. The Grouper family ranges from the small Cabrillas that are often caught when bait fishing on the rocks, to the larger Big-Eye, Yellowfin, Broomtail and finally the Goliath Grouper, which can grow to several hundred pounds.
Machaca - one of the most exciting freshwater game fish found in Central America. A relative of the piranha, Machaca put up such a good fight that their aerial display mimics a baby tarpon. When hooked they’ll leap into the air several times in an attempt to throw your hook. These aggressive herbivores have a set of teeth are made for eating berries and cracking seed pods, not gripping or tearing flesh.
Sailfish - The fastest fish in the ocean, sailfish can reach speeds of 68 miles per hour. Their large size and spirited fight make them a favorite among trophy fishers. They are predominantly blue to gray in color and have a characteristic dorsal fin known as a sail, which often stretches the entire length of the back. Another notable characteristic is the elongated bill, resembling that of the swordfish and other marlins. These powerful, streamlined beasts can grow to more than 10 feet and weigh up to 220 pounds. When hooked, they will fight vigorously, leaping and diving repeatedly, and sometimes taking hours to land.
The waiting is the hardest part. This photo was The Pelagic Rockstar Offshore Tournament in Quepos, Cost Rica. The PELAGIC Rockstar Offshore Tournament is a team event with cash, prizes, and awards estimated to over $500,000. Labeled as “Central America’s Richest Fishing Tournament”, the Rockstar Offshore Tournament features multiple marina-side bashes, knock-your-socks-off rock ‘n roll concerts, and offshore tournament extravaganza. You bring your crew, we bring the fun – so join us this January in Costa Rica for an experience you don’t want to miss. Fish all day, party all night… If you dare!

When I plan a Costa Rica Vacation Package for you don't forget to ask about a Costa Rica Fishing Tour. Costa Rica is one of the top destinations in the world for fishing and having the opportunity to cross a fish off your bucket list. Here a client was able to catch a rooster fish while trolling a red and white Rapala Magnum. Needless to say the expression on her face says it all. Pura Vida!

This is my brother's first Roosterfish. We also caught several other species on this half day inshore Costa Rica Fishing Tour including snook, jacks, needlefish, blue runner and a small bull shark. Snook is one of my favorite fish to eat so we had fresh fish on the grill that evening. Check out the video below.
